From a very young age, Monica found herself intrigued by hair. At the age of four, she “setup shop” in the living room of her parents Ireland home, and at age nine she was introduced to the Vidal Sassoon Academy documentary. At that moment, Monica knew that she had witnessed something truly special and made it her goal to be part of the Vidal Sassoon team.
At the age of 15, Monica began her first job working at a salon on weekends. Over the years, she
gained exposure to a wide range of businesses and brands, from the “mom and pop” corner shops, to working behind the chair for Vidal Sassoon, Tony + Guy, and Bumble & Bumble. Monica’s passion for cutting led her to experiment with everything from precision scissor cutting to create structured graduated bobs, to the creative freedom that comes from using the straight-edge razor. Monica’s love for education continues to grow, both as an educator and lifelong student herself.Monica is a regular backstage at Fashion Week for brands including Betsy Johnson, Cynthia Rowley,Nicole Miller, Chromat and e Blonds, to name a few. She joined the Oribe Education Team with a focus on sharing her cutting talent with salons around the country. When she’s not teaching, Monica is the proud owner of Salon Troy in Albany, NY.
